Polyporoids are a diverse group of fungi belonging to the order Polyporales. These fungi are commonly known as polypores, bracket fungi, or conks. A defining characteristic of most polyporoids is the presence of pores on the underside of their fruiting bodies, which serve as the hymenium, the spore-producing surface.
