The output yields Mn, Mw, and Đ, as well as higher-moment metrics when data permit.

Applications include characterization of molecular weight distributions in synthetic polymers, end-group analysis, detection of chain branches, and quality control in polymer manufacturing. The method can help distinguish polymers with similar Mn or Mw but different distribution shapes.

Limitations involve ionization biases that affect the detectability of certain masses, reduced effectiveness for very high molecular weights, sensitivity to sample purity, and the need for specialized software and standards to interpret the distribution accurately.
