Poluanilor

Poluanilor is the Romanian term for substances or energy forms that degrade environmental quality and may threaten human health or ecosystems. In environmental science, poluanilor include a broad spectrum of chemicals, physical agents and biological contaminants. They are commonly categorized by the environment they affect: poluanilor atmosferici (air pollutants), poluanilor de apă (water pollutants) and poluanilor solului (soil pollutants). Some pollutants affect several compartments or move through air, water or soil.

Sources and exposure: The main origins are industrial activity, energy production, transportation, agricultural practices and improper waste management. Poluanilor can reach humans through inhalation, ingestion and dermal contact, and can spread through air, water, soil and food chains.
