Politikoje

Politikoje is a fictional parliamentary republic used in political fiction and world-building. The name derives from the official language and roughly means “in politics,” serving as the label for both the state and its political life in the setting.

Politikoje lies on the eastern coast of the continent Valoria, with a coastal plain, a central river valley, and low mountains. The population is about seven million, concentrated in urban centers along the coast.

Politikoje is governed by a written constitution enacted in 1986 and amended since. It uses a semi-parliamentary system with a prime minister as head of government and a largely ceremonial president as head of state. The 120-seat National Assembly is elected by proportional representation. The cabinet is drawn from the Assembly and must retain its confidence. An independent judiciary and a rights-based framework support the rule of law. Civic participation includes citizen assemblies and occasional online referendums.

Elections and parties: General elections occur every four years. Parties compete in multi-member districts, with a 3 percent threshold for representation. An autonomous Election Commission administers elections, and media protection for pluralism and reporting is enshrined in law.

Economy and society: Politikoje has a mixed economy with a strong welfare component. Key sectors include services, manufacturing, and renewable energy. Public education and healthcare are widely funded, and regional development policies seek to reduce disparities.

History: The modern polity emerged from liberalizing reforms in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with the current constitution adopted in 1986 and decentralization completed in the 1990s.
