Pohjaviivaa

Pohjaviivaa is a municipality of Finland, located in the Central Ostrobothnia region. The municipality is situated in the county of Central Finland. It was separated from the city of_isojoki in 1874.

The name Pohjaviivaa is derived from the nearby Pajakash Canal. This canal is the main geographical feature in the area. The canal connects the Vähäjoki and Isojoki rivers. The name Pohjaviivaa is thought to be translated as "lower canal" or "lower contraction".

Today, the municipality has a population of around 280 people, with a total area of approximately 63.8 square kilometers. The area is mostly forested, with large tracts of agricultural land. The local economy is largely based on agriculture and lumbering.

Pohjaviivaa remains a secluded and rural region, reliant on local industries and natural resources. Due to its small size and population, there are few amenities within the municipality, such as public transportation, education, and healthcare facilities. Residents often travel to nearby Isojoki for these services.
