Podzian

Podzian is a fictional sovereign state and cultural region created for world-building. It is located in the northern highlands of the continent of Veridia, bordered by Valoria to the west and Kyrn to the south, with a short coastline along the Silver Sea to the north. The state operates as a constitutional republic with a multi-party system.

The Podzian landscape comprises the Highlands, rolling foothills, dense forests, and river valleys. The climate is temperate, with cold winters and mild summers. The territory covers about 22,000 square kilometers and supports a population of roughly 1.2 million, concentrated in regional towns along rivers.

Podzian was historically inhabited by Podzian-speaking communities. The state emerged as a unified polity in the mid-19th century and gained full independence in 1846. A 1993 reform established the current parliamentary framework and local self-government.

National governance features a unicameral National Assembly elected for four-year terms. The President serves as head of state, and the Prime Minister leads the government. Coalition cabinets are common in the multiparty system.

Economy centers on forestry, agriculture, and light manufacturing, with services and tourism contributing as well. Key exports include timber products, dairy, grains, and machinery components. The country emphasizes hydroelectric power, rural development, and regional connectivity.

Official language is Podzian, spoken by the majority. Minority languages include Varin and Taln. Literacy is high, and education is compulsory through secondary level. Cultural life features wood carving, traditional song, and seasonal festivals.
