Plotació

Plotació is a term found in Catalan-speaking contexts that carries different meanings depending on the field and region. It is not a single, universally standardized concept, but rather a label used for related activities tied to planning, representation, or real estate.

In urban planning and real estate, plotació commonly refers to the subdivision of a larger parcel of land into smaller plots for development, sale, or construction. The process may involve delineating boundaries, establishing building setbacks, and coordinating services such as roads, utilities, and drainage. In this sense, plotació is closely connected with parcelació, planning, and land administration.

In data visualization and cartography, some speakers use plotació to denote the act of plotting data points on a graph or map, i.e., creating a plot or chart. When used in this sense, it functions similarly to the English term plot and is part of the broader practice of graphical representation of information.
