Plazmaadományozás

Plazmaadományozás refers to the process of donating blood plasma. Plasma is the liquid component of blood, making up about 55% of its total volume. It is primarily composed of water, salts, antibodies, and proteins, including clotting factors.

The procedure for plasma donation is similar to whole blood donation but with a key difference. During plasmapheresis, blood is drawn from the donor, passed through a machine that separates the plasma, and then the remaining blood components, along with a saline solution, are returned to the donor. This process allows for a larger volume of plasma to be collected at one time compared to donating whole blood where only a portion of the plasma is retained.

Donated plasma is a vital resource in medicine. It is used to treat a variety of medical conditions, including bleeding disorders, immune deficiencies, and severe burns. Specific components within plasma, such as antibodies and clotting factors, can be isolated and used as life-saving therapies.

Plasma donors must meet certain health and eligibility requirements, which can vary by donation center and country.
