Playmates

Playmates are individuals who participate in play together, most commonly referring to children who form ongoing associations with other children for games, imaginative activities, and social play. The term can also apply to partners in adult recreational activities or siblings who regularly play with one another.

Across developmental stages, playmate relationships support social and language development, negotiation, turn-taking, and empathy. Children often learn rules, take others' perspectives, and cope with disappointment through play with familiar playmates. The benefits increase with stable, positive interactions, rather than mere numbers of playmates.

Playmates Toys is a toy company best known for producing action figures and licensing properties such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. The name continues to appear in various toy and media brands.
