Plastilisest
Plastilisest is a term used in design discourse to describe a philosophy and practice centered on the responsible use of plastic materials, with an emphasis on circularity, repairability, and longevity. It encompasses both the selection of polymers—often recycled or post-consumer plastics—and the design and manufacturing approaches that facilitate disassembly, recycling, and upgrading at end of life. In this sense, Plastilisest frames plastic as a durable, traceable material rather than a disposable commodity.
The concept emerged in European design and materials research in the early 2010s, and has since appeared
Material and process focus: Plastilisest favors mechanical recycling, sorting and clean separation of polymers, surface treatments
Environmental and economic context: The approach seeks to reduce plastic waste, mitigate resource extraction, and support
