The term combines plant biology with an emphasis on protein relatedness to reflect a focus on proteomic signatures as indicators of evolutionary or ecological relationships. Although not yet standardized in major taxonomic references, planteinrelated has appeared in theoretical discussions and pilot studies exploring protein-based similarity measures between taxa or populations.

The core idea is that many plant taxa share conserved proteins and orthologous families; by profiling the proteome under controlled conditions or across tissues, researchers can compute a relational score between species or populations that roughly reflects historical relatedness and ecological proximity.
