Pistepilvestä
Pistepilvestä, often translated as "point cloud," is a collection of data points in a three-dimensional space. Each point typically represents a location on the surface of an object or environment. These points are usually defined by their X, Y, and Z coordinates. Point clouds are generated through various scanning technologies, most notably LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) and photogrammetry. LiDAR sensors emit laser beams and measure the time it takes for them to return after hitting a surface, allowing for precise distance measurements and thus the creation of 3D coordinates. Photogrammetry, on the other hand, reconstructs 3D models from multiple overlapping 2D photographs.
