Pistekilpailu, or point race, is a competitive format commonly used in motorsport, particularly in rallying and rallycross. The term originates from Finnish, where "piste" means "point" and "kilpailu" means "competition." In this format, drivers compete over a series of stages or rounds, with points awarded based on their finishing positions. The driver or team with the highest cumulative points at the end of the series is declared the champion.

The structure of a pistekilpailu typically involves multiple events or rounds, each with its own scoring system. Points are often distributed in descending order, with the first-place finisher earning the most points, the second-place finisher earning fewer, and so on. For example, a common scoring system might award 10 points to the winner, 8 to the second, 6 to the third, and so forth, with fewer points given to drivers finishing further back. In some cases, bonus points may be awarded for achieving specific milestones, such as the fastest lap or pole position.
