Pirospeaking is a contemporary rhetorical style used in online and spoken discourse that emphasizes intensity, urgency, and vivid imagery through concise phrasing and direct address. It relies on color-based metaphor, especially the color red, to signal importance or danger and to prompt immediate engagement.

The term blends the Hungarian word piros, meaning red, with speaking. It appeared in digital communities in the 2010s and 2020s to describe persuasive language that foregrounds emotion and action over measured nuance.

Core features include short, declarative sentences; imperative mood; repetition; frequent use of color imagery and vivid verbs; interjections and rhetorical questions; and a performative, sometimes ceremonial cadence. It may be used in activism, political commentary, or marketing.

Pirospeaking can sharpen clarity and motivational impact but draws criticism for sensationalism, oversimplification, and potential manipulation. Proponents argue it communicates urgency and values; critics warn it risks polarizing audiences and bypassing nuance.
