Pintakäyttöiset is a Finnish term that translates to "surface-mounted" or "surface-type" in English. It refers to components, devices, or installation methods where the item is attached to or sits on the surface of another object or material, rather than being embedded within it or recessed into it. This is a common term in various fields, including electronics, construction, and manufacturing.

In electronics, pintakäyttöiset components, often referred to as Surface Mount Devices (SMD), are electronic components that are soldered directly onto the surface of a printed circuit board (PCB). This contrasts with through-hole technology, where component leads are inserted through holes in the board and soldered on the opposite side. SMD technology allows for smaller, more densely packed circuits and automated assembly.
