Pilvearvutus

Pilvearvutus, or cloud computing, refers to the delivery of computing services—including servers, storage, databases, networking, software, analytics, and intelligence—over the Internet ("the cloud") to offer faster innovation, flexible resources, and economies of scale. Instead of owning and maintaining physical data centers and servers, users can access technology services on an as-needed basis from a cloud provider.

The concept of cloud computing has evolved significantly. Initially, it was associated with utility computing, where computing resources were provided like a public utility. Today, cloud computing encompasses a wide range of services, commonly categorized into three main models: Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS). IaaS provides basic computing infrastructure, PaaS offers a platform for developing and running applications, and SaaS delivers ready-to-use software applications over the internet.

Major cloud providers include Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. These providers offer a global network of data centers. Benefits of cloud computing include cost savings, speed, global scale, productivity, and reliability. It allows organizations to be more agile and responsive to market changes by providing scalable resources that can be adjusted up or down as needed. Data security and privacy are also key considerations within the cloud computing landscape.
