Pilefundamenter

Pilefundamenter is a term used in geotechnical engineering to describe the engineered base of a foundation pile. It is essentially the enlarged or reinforced portion at the bottom of a pile that is designed to increase its load-bearing capacity. The primary function of a pilefundamenter is to provide a larger bearing area against the soil or rock, thereby distributing the load from the pile over a wider surface.

There are several types of pilefundamenter designs, each suited for different soil conditions and load requirements. Some common types include the belled pile, which features a conical enlargement at the base, and the underreamed pile, which has one or more horizontal bulbs. These enlargements are typically formed during the pile installation process, either by drilling out a larger section at the pile tip or by expanding a pre-formed section. The installation of a pilefundamenter requires specialized equipment and techniques to ensure the enlarged base is properly formed and stable.
