Piglin

Piglin are nether-dwelling, pig-like humanoid mobs in Minecraft. They inhabit the Nether, especially in crimson forests, basalt deltas, and Bastion Remnants. Introduced in the 1.16 update, they are part of the piglin family, which also includes the larger piglin brute. Piglins are adapted to the hostile Nether environment and often travel in groups.

Piglins are neutral toward players who wear at least one piece of gold armor. If a player is not wearing gold or if a piglin is provoked or attacked, the creature becomes hostile and will defend itself, typically calling nearby piglins to assist. They are strongly attracted to gold and gold items; they can pick up dropped gold and are known for bartering with players. To barter, a player throws a gold ingot near a willing piglin; the piglin takes the ingot and, after a moment, returns a random item in exchange.

Piglins are resistant to fire and lava, reflecting their Nether origin. They communicate through a combination of sounds and gestures during bartering and interaction. A notable variant is the piglin brute, a larger and more powerful form that is always hostile and does not barter with players; brutes commonly appear in Bastion Remnants as guards.

Some piglins can become zombified piglins if struck by lightning, changing their appearance and behavior while remaining in the Nether landscape. Overall, piglins contribute to Nether culture and trade dynamics by offering a barter system that complements direct combat and exploration.
