- Peak pressure ratio: Pmax / Pref, where Pmax is the maximum absolute pressure during the event and Pref is the chosen reference pressure.

- Peak overpressure or normalized peak pressure: (Pmax − Pref) / Pref, sometimes expressed as a dimensionless value or percentage.

Units are typically dimensionless, since this is a ratio; it may also be reported as a percentage.

Measurement and calculation:

Piekdrukgraad is derived from pressure-time data collected with sensors capable of capturing transient events.
