Pidemmätkin

Pidemmätkin is a Finnish grammatical form that combines the adjective pidempi (longer) with the plural ending -t and the enclitic particle -kin, used to mean “even the longer ones” or “even longer.” It functions as an intensifying modifier for a plural noun.

In use, pidemmätkin appears before a plural noun and agrees in number and case with that noun. The -kin particle adds emphasis, often implying contrast with shorter or shorter-known alternatives. It is common in both spoken and written Finnish and can appear in formal and informal contexts.

The form is typically employed to highlight that there are longer examples, options, or instances beyond what has already been mentioned or assumed. It does not introduce a new concept by itself; rather, it strengthens the sense of inclusion or extendability of the item described.

Examples:

- Pidemmätkin matkat voivat olla haastavia, mutta niistä voi oppia enemmän. (Even longer trips can be challenging, but they offer more learning.)
