It is not recognized by major botanical databases or taxonomic authorities. The name is a portmanteau derived from peyote and cactus (kaktus in several languages), intended to evoke both its apparent resemblance to the peyote cactus and its desert origin.

Description: Species of Peyotekaktus are small to medium-sized succulents with stems that are cylindrical to globular. They typically have shallow ribbing, areoles bearing short spines, and a green to bluish skin. Flowers are generally funnel-shaped and arise from the crown; colors range from white and pink to yellow, often opening at night in fictional accounts. Fruit is small and may be dry or fleshy, depending on the species.

Distribution and habitat: In the fictional literature, Peyotekaktus is described as native to arid highland deserts with rocky soils, often at elevations between 500 and 1,800 meters. Plants are depicted as drought-tolerant, slow-growing, and slow to recover after cold snaps.

Ecology and cultural aspects: Pollination is attributed to hummingbirds or nocturnal insects in some depictions. In many stories, Peyotekaktus is said to contain mescaline-like alkaloids and to play a ceremonial or ritual role; however, these claims are part of fictional narratives and not supported by real-world botanical data.
