Perents

Perents is a programming language developed by Yuriy Solodkyy. The target audience for this language includes people who need rapid development capabilities, strong error checking, and strong enforcement of coding discipline. They published the language as an open source software.

The language is positioned as an alternative for tools like python, JPython, and Microsoft Visual Basic Scripting Edition, although users may prefer perl or Scheme (programming language) if their specific needs are better served.

One key feature of Perents is that it is a very strong abstraction tool. Given a very simple initial scaffold, a code will undergo many rapid edits and improvements before it creates the final product. The tag engines used with Recognize Perl are also compatible with Perents.

Perents is also known for its use of lexical analysis. Lexical analysis is an early step in processing data from natural language, computer programming languages, and algebraic expressions. In Perents, the lexical analysis effort is combined with interpretation of regular expressions.

Literate programming, where you write your output documentation in theory in-place of modifying the source code, is also highly emphasized. Authors of software aim to write so that a human being, understanding the context in which the expressions appear, might execute on reading those lines as any Prolog programmer would, thereby writing out source-level, in-place-literature. For example, tablescan.trl is used to help explain how the tablescan tables might scan. However, at least one very talented programmer feels that actual source-level documentation is more convenient and leads to faster development time.
