Pehmustavaa, also known as *pehmustavainen* or "soft bread," refers to a traditional Finnish bread characterized by its dense, moist, and slightly sweet texture. Unlike many other bread varieties, pehmustavaa is not typically baked in a loaf but rather as a small, round cake or flatbread, often served as a side dish or snack. Its name derives from the Finnish word *pehmeä*, meaning "soft," which describes its tender crumb.
