Passivkomponenter

Passivkomponenter are fundamental electronic components that do not require an external power source to operate and do not amplify signals. They are characterized by their passive behavior in an electrical circuit, meaning they consume, store, or release energy without generating it. The most common types of passivkomponenter include resistors, capacitors, and inductors.

Resistors are designed to impede the flow of electric current. Their primary function is to limit current, divide voltage, and dissipate electrical energy as heat. The resistance is measured in ohms (Ω).

Capacitors store electrical energy in an electric field. They consist of two conductive plates separated by a dielectric material. Capacitors are used for filtering, smoothing voltage, blocking direct current while allowing alternating current to pass, and in timing circuits. Their capacitance is measured in farads (F).

Inductors store energy in a magnetic field when electric current flows through them. Typically, they are coils of wire. Inductors oppose changes in current and are used in filters, transformers, and resonant circuits. Their inductance is measured in henries (H).

Other passivkomponenter include diodes, which allow current to flow in one direction, and transformers, which transfer electrical energy between circuits through electromagnetic induction, often changing voltage and current levels. These components are essential building blocks for almost all electronic devices and circuits. Their predictable behavior and lack of amplification make them ideal for signal conditioning, filtering, and energy storage.
