Parcials is a term that appears most often in Spanish-language mathematical and educational contexts. In English, the corresponding plural is typically partials and the term parcials is not standard; thus parcials is not a widely recognized English term.

In mathematics, parcials (parcial) commonly appear in phrases such as derivadas parciales and fracciones parciales. Derivadas parciales are partial derivatives of a function f(x1, x2, ..., xn) obtained by differentiating with respect to one variable while holding the others constant. They are fundamental in multivariable calculus and are used to analyze change, optimize functions, and form gradients in optimization problems. Fracciones parciales refer to the partial fraction decomposition of a rational function R(x) = P(x)/Q(x) into a sum of simpler fractions whose denominators are linear or irreducible quadratic factors. This technique simplifies integration and certain algebraic manipulations.

Education context: In many Spanish-speaking universities, parciales also denote midterm examinations, collectively used to assess students' progress halfway through a course; exam schedules and structure vary by institution and country.
