Inkjet and laser printing are used for proofs, personalized materials, or direct mail. Substrate choices range from uncoated to highly coated papers; paper weight is measured in grams per square meter (g/m2). Color reproduction typically uses CMYK with optional spot colors (Pantone) for accuracy; color management relies on ICC profiles and color standards such as ISO 12647.

Workflow and finishing: The process includes design and prepress, proofing (soft or printed), platemaking (for offset), printing, and postpress finishing (cutting, folding, binding, varnishing).
