Palythoan is a genus of marine invertebrates belonging to the order Zoanthidea, commonly known as zoanthids. These soft-bodied coral-like organisms are found in shallow tropical and subtropical waters worldwide, often forming dense mats or colonies on hard substrates such as rocks, coral skeletons, and even shipwrecks. Palythoans are characterized by their numerous tentacles that radiate from a central mouth. These tentacles are used for filter feeding, capturing small planktonic organisms from the water column.
