Palautuskierrä

Palautuskierrä is a Finnish term that translates to "return loop" or "return circuit." It most commonly refers to the system in place for returning packaging, particularly beverage containers, for recycling or reuse. The Palautuskierrä system is designed to incentivize consumers to return empty bottles and cans. Consumers pay a small deposit when purchasing beverages, which is refunded upon returning the empty container to a designated collection point. These collection points are often found in supermarkets and other retail outlets, equipped with reverse vending machines that scan and sort the containers.
