Pakicetids
Pakicetids are an extinct family of early whales, belonging to the archaeocetes within Cetartiodactyla. They lived during the early Eocene, roughly 52 to 50 million years ago, and are among the earliest cetaceans known from the fossil record. Fossils attributed to Pakicetidae have been found mainly in the northern Indian subcontinent, especially in what is now Pakistan, with additional material from surrounding regions, indicating a distribution in Asia during the early Eocene.
