PWMalgoritme

The PWMalgoritme, or Pulse Width Modulation algorithm, is a technique used to control the power delivered to an electrical device by rapidly switching the power source on and off. Instead of varying the voltage or current directly, the algorithm modulates the duration for which the power is on versus off within a fixed time period. This on-off ratio, known as the duty cycle, determines the average power delivered.

The core principle involves generating a digital signal that oscillates between a high and low state. The width of the high pulse, relative to the total period of the oscillation, defines the duty cycle. For example, a 50% duty cycle means the power is on for half the time and off for the other half, resulting in half the maximum possible power. A 100% duty cycle means the power is always on, delivering maximum power, while a 0% duty cycle means the power is always off.

PWMalgoritme is widely employed in various applications due to its efficiency and simplicity. It is commonly found in motor speed controllers, where adjusting the duty cycle effectively controls the motor's rotational speed. It is also used in dimming LED lights, controlling servo motors, and in power supply circuits to regulate voltage. The effectiveness of PWMalgoritme stems from the fact that the switching components are either fully on or fully off, minimizing power dissipation and heat generation compared to analog control methods. This makes it an energy-efficient and robust solution for power management.
