PSOL
PSOL, or Partido Socialismo e Liberdade (Socialism and Liberty Party), is a left-wing political party in Brazil. It was founded in 2004 by dissidents from the Workers’ Party (PT) and members from social movements who criticized the PT’s shift toward centrism. The party positions itself as socialist with an emphasis on participatory democracy, anti-imperialism, and social justice. It advocates for robust public services, such as universal healthcare and free public education, expanded social protections, progressive taxation, labor rights, and gender and LGBT equality. It supports democratic reforms, including stronger citizen participation in decision-making and municipal participatory budgeting.
