PLLsyntetisaation refers to the process of generating a synthetic signal using a Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) system. A PLL is a feedback control system that generates an output signal whose phase is related to the phase of an input signal. In the context of PLL synthesis, the PLL is used to create a stable and precise output signal at a desired frequency, often by multiplying or dividing the frequency of a reference signal.

The core components of a PLL synthesizer include a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO), a phase detector, and a low-pass filter. The phase detector compares the phase of the input reference signal with the phase of a feedback signal derived from the VCO's output. Any phase difference is converted into an error voltage. This error voltage is then filtered by the low-pass filter, which smooths out rapid fluctuations and provides a control voltage to the VCO. The VCO adjusts its output frequency in response to this control voltage, aiming to minimize the phase difference. When the PLL is locked, the VCO's output frequency is precisely synchronized to the reference frequency, often with a specific frequency multiplication or division ratio.

PLL synthesizers are widely used in electronic devices for frequency generation and signal processing. Applications include radio and television transmitters and receivers, mobile phones, radar systems, and digital signal processing. Their ability to generate stable, tunable frequencies with high spectral purity makes them indispensable in modern electronics. The flexibility to program the frequency division or multiplication ratio allows for the generation of a wide range of output frequencies from a single, stable reference oscillator.
