PKIrendszerek, which translates to Public Key Infrastructure systems, are frameworks of policies, procedures, hardware, software, and people that are necessary for the creation, management, distribution, use, storage, and revocation of digital certificates. These certificates are essential for enabling secure communication and transactions over networks, particularly the internet. The core function of a PKI is to bind public keys with respective identities through a trusted third party, known as a Certificate Authority (CA).

The primary goal of a PKI is to provide a secure and scalable way to manage digital identities and facilitate trust in electronic interactions. This is achieved through a hierarchical or distributed system of CAs. A root CA is at the top of the hierarchy, trusted by all other entities in the system. Intermediate CAs are delegated authority by the root CA to issue certificates. End entities, such as individuals or servers, receive certificates from a CA that vouch for their public keys and identities.
