PEreignis
PEreignis is a term used in some strands of Continental philosophy and cognitive theory to denote the temporally extended, co-constituted occurrence of meaning that arises when a subject engages with the world. The P is taken to stand for perception or process, while Ereignis is the German word for event, drawing on Martin Heidegger's notion of Ereignis, the event through which beings come into relation with beings. In PEreignis, events are not pre-given objects nor purely private experiences; rather they emerge from the ongoing coupling of a perceiver, their body, and the surrounding milieu. The notion emphasizes that sense is produced through active engagement over time, making perception a happening rather than a static representation.
