This funding is typically provided by venture capital firms, angel investors, or other institutional investors. The primary purpose of a pääomarahoitusvaihe is to fuel expansion, product development, market penetration, or to achieve other strategic growth objectives that require substantial capital beyond the company's operational cash flow.

These funding rounds are usually structured into distinct phases, often labeled with letters such as Seed, Series A, Series B, Series C, and so on.
