Ovilukitut

Ovilukitut is a small, unincorporated community located in the Qikiqtaaluk Region of Nunavut, Canada. Situated on the northeastern coast of Baffin Island, it overlooks Davis Strait. The name "Ovilukitut" is an Inuktitut word that is believed to mean "place where the sea is deep." The community is primarily accessible by air and sea, with limited seasonal boat access.

The traditional inhabitants of the Ovilukitut area were Inuit hunters and gatherers who followed the migratory patterns of caribou and marine mammals. Archaeological evidence suggests human presence in the region dating back thousands of years.
