Ottosükkel
Ottosükkel, also known as Otto's Sickle, is a rare and distinctive type of sickle cell anemia characterized by the presence of a unique hemoglobin variant, hemoglobin Otto. This variant is caused by a single amino acid substitution in the beta-globin chain, specifically a glutamic acid (E) at position 26 replacing a valine (V). This substitution results in a hemoglobin molecule with altered oxygen affinity and stability.
