Oszlopot

Oszlopot is the Hungarian accusative singular form of oszlop, a noun meaning column or pillar. An oszlop is a vertical architectural element that transmits loads and helps define space within buildings and other structures. Columns may serve structural functions, such as supporting arches, lintels, or entablatures, or they can be decorative features in façades, interior spaces, and monuments. They vary in style, proportion, and material, ranging from ancient-inspired orders to modern minimalist forms.

In architecture, columns are commonly classified by their shaft type, capital design, base, and the classical orders—Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian—each with characteristic capitals and proportions. They can be freestanding or grouped in colonnades, and they may be fluted or smooth, finished in stone, brick, concrete, or metal. The concept of a column also appears in sculpture, urban design, and structural engineering, where it is used as a generic term for vertical load-bearing elements.

Grammatically, oszlopot marks the direct object in a sentence. It is the definite accusative form in singular usage, used after verbs that require a transitive object or after determiners that indicate definiteness.
