Osoittakaa
Osoittakaa is a Finnish term that functions as an imperative form derived from the verb osoittaa, meaning “to point” or “to indicate.” The suffix –kää is a polite request form used when addressing a group, similar to the English “please point” or “please show.” In everyday Finnish conversation, osoittakaa is often employed in instructional or informational contexts where a speaker solicits visual guidance from listeners—for example, a teacher might say, “Osoittakaa kehon liikkeen ja alusta” (Please point to the body movement and the base). The phrase can also appear in written communications such as meeting minutes, where a member requests clarification: “Osoittakaa asiakaspalautteen keskeisin havainnot” (Please point out the key findings of the customer feedback). Outside of literal pointing, osoittakaa can metaphorically indicate the request for identifying or highlighting specific points in a discussion, argument, or data set. Because of its polite construction, the form is common in formal or semi‑formal settings, including corporate reports, academic presentations, and public speaking. The literal meaning of the word is “point” while the usage of the verb is “to point, to indicate, to show.”
