Osmanli, also known as Osman I, was the founder of the Ottoman Empire, one of the most influential and enduring states in world history. Born around 1258 in Söğüt, a small town in northwestern Anatolia (modern-day Turkey), Osman was a member of the Kayi tribe, a branch of the Oghuz Turks. Little is known about his early life, but historical accounts suggest he was a skilled warrior and leader who began consolidating power in the late 13th century.
