Osimia

Osimia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae, native to the Cape region of South Africa. The genus is characterized by its evergreen shrubs or small trees, with simple or pinnate leaves and yellow or orange daisy-like flowers. Osimia species are known for their medicinal properties and are often used in traditional African medicine.

The most well-known species within the genus is Osimia tetraphylla, commonly known as the Cape willow. This species is particularly notable for its use in treating respiratory ailments, such as coughs and bronchitis. The plant contains compounds that have anti-inflammatory and expectorant properties, making it a valuable remedy in traditional medicine.
