Osaisemman

Osaisemman is a traditional folk dance from the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, performed primarily by women. The dance is characterized by its energetic and rhythmic movements, often accompanied by traditional instruments such as the mridangam and tabla. It is typically performed during festivals, weddings, and other social gatherings, and is known for its vibrant and colorful costumes.

The dance is believed to have originated in the village of Osai in the Thanjavur district, from which it derives its name. It is performed in a circular formation, with the dancers moving in a clockwise direction while holding hands. The movements are fluid and graceful, with the dancers often performing intricate footwork and hand gestures.

Osaisemman is an important cultural heritage of Tamil Nadu, and is recognized by the Government of India as one of the country's 52 intangible cultural heritage elements.
