Organotypisista
Organotypisista refers to organotypic approaches in tissue culture, capturing the organization and function of an organ in vitro. The term is used in Finnish literature to describe organotypic cultures and related methods that preserve tissue architecture, cellular composition, and intercellular interactions outside the body.
Organotypic systems include brain and retina slice cultures, liver and gut explants, and scaffold-supported 3D cultures
Applications include basic neuroscience and developmental studies, disease modeling (e.g., neurodegeneration, injury), pharmacology and toxicology screening,
Advantages include preservation of cytoarchitecture, cell–cell interactions, and extracellular matrix context, as well as reduced animal
In Finnish scientific usage, organotypisista is a grammatical form of organotypic methodologies and is often discussed
