Oppkallingene

Oppkallingene is a Norwegian term that translates roughly to “the callings” or “the summons.” It is formed from oppkalling, combining the prefix opp- with kalling (calling or vocation). In everyday Norwegian, the word can refer to various invitations or summonses, but it is most commonly used in religious or theological contexts.

In Christian theology, oppkalling denotes the process by which God calls individuals to faith, repentance, and service. The concept is closely related to the broader idea of kallelse (calling) within Lutheran, Reformed, and other Protestant traditions.
