Oppiperinnettä

Oppiperinnettä is a Finnish term that translates loosely to "inheritance of office" or "hereditary tenure." It refers to a historical practice where certain official positions or roles within a community or organization were passed down from one generation to the next, typically within the same family. This system was not necessarily formal or legally codified in all instances but rather a customary arrangement that evolved over time.

The practice of oppiperinnettä was most prevalent in pre-industrial societies and agrarian communities. It could apply to a range of roles, including village elders, local administrators, craft guild masters, or even certain religious offices.
