Ootanari is a municipality in the western part of Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan. It is situated in the foothills of the Satsuma Peninsula and falls within the administrative district that also includes the cities of Mishima and Toshima. According to the most recent census, the town has an estimated population of approximately 12,500 residents, with a population density of around 140 persons per square kilometer.
