Olimlar

Olimlar is a Uzbek term meaning a person who has acquired extensive knowledge in a field, typically a scholar or scientist. The word encompasses both religious scholars (ulama) and secular academics, and it is used with respect to someone regarded as knowledgeable or expert in a discipline.

Etymology and scope: Olim comes from the Arabic word alim, meaning knowledgeable or learned. In Uzbek usage, an olim can be a university professor, a researcher, a scientist, or a religious scholar.
