In typical usages, an oligomeerit would refer to an oligomer with a low degree of polymerization, often in the range of two to ten repeating units, and with a relatively well-defined stoichiometry. Such species may arise from controlled synthesis, selective assembly, or partial degradation of larger polymers. Depending on the monomer chemistry, oligomeerits can exhibit discrete molecular weights and narrow size distributions, which makes them separable and characterizable by techniques like mass spectrometry, high-performance liquid chromatography, or gel permeation chromatography.
