Okklúziók

Okklúziók refer to the way the upper and lower teeth come together when the jaw is closed. This alignment is crucial for proper chewing, speaking, and overall oral health. The study and treatment of these bite patterns fall under the field of orthodontics and dentistry.

There are various types of okklúziók. A normal okklúzió, often called a Class I bite, occurs when the upper teeth slightly overlap the lower teeth, and the cusps of the molars interdigate properly. Deviations from this ideal can lead to several categories of malocclusion. Class II malocclusions, or overbites, involve the upper teeth protruding significantly forward over the lower teeth. Conversely, Class III malocclusions, or underbites, feature the lower teeth extending forward past the upper teeth.

Other factors contributing to malocclusion include crowding of teeth, spacing between teeth, crossbites (where upper teeth fit inside lower teeth in certain areas), and open bites (where front teeth do not touch when the mouth is closed). These conditions can result from a combination of genetic factors, habits like thumb-sucking, or premature loss of baby teeth.

Correcting abnormal okklúziók is often achieved through orthodontic treatments such as braces or clear aligners. These interventions aim to reposition teeth and jaws to improve function, aesthetics, and long-term oral health, preventing issues like excessive wear on teeth, jaw pain, and difficulty with speech or eating.
