Oikealle

Oikealle is a Finnish directional adverb meaning "to the right" or "toward the right-hand side." It is used to indicate movement toward the right, rather than a static position on the right side. For example, Käänny oikealle means "Turn to the right," and Kävele oikealle means "Walk to the right."

The form oikealle is derived from the adjective oikea ("right") plus the allative suffix -lle, which marks direction toward a place or side. In Finnish, the allative -lle is commonly used with verbs of movement or with imperatives when giving directions. For instance, Käänny oikealle or Mene oikealle.

In practical use, oikealle appears frequently in everyday speech and on road signs, maps, and instructions. It contrasts with vasemmalle, which means "to the left." For describing a position rather than a movement, Finnish typically uses oikealla (on the right) rather than oikealle. This distinction between movement toward the right and a static location is a normal feature of Finnish directional grammar.
